Unconditional Love—You Do Deserve It!

Unconditional love can be defined simply as love without any conditions or limitations. This type of love can come to us in many forms: through a wonderful soul-mate relationship, from our family and friends, and even from our small furry friends . . . our pets! In fact, I think the easiest way to understand unconditional love is to consider love from our pet’s perspective.

Our pets are an amazing source of unconditional love! They love us regardless of how we look or feel and are always there for us, even when we’ve had a rough day. Our pets are waiting to greet us when we arrive home, and put a huge smile on our face because they love us without conditions or boundaries. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if your significant other and friends offered you the same type of unconditional love—you do deserve it, of course!

Let me briefly clarify what unconditional love is not. It is not a love that requires you to do or be anything other than who you already are. That would be conditional love. Conditional love continually asks you to make changes. At first, conditional love may look genuine, but soon enough, the red flags will appear. Suddenly, you find yourself being required to change your look, act differently, or do more than you have time for. It’s a give-give relationship—and you are the majority giver!

Most important, this type of lover or friend will never accept you for the wonderful person you already are. We’ve all been there, and I’m no exception. The best advice I can offer is to acknowledge that you will only embrace unconditional love and know that you are deserving of it. Be confident that you will attract this type of love, and say no to anyone who comes into your life who can’t offer this to you.

I think the following quote, the author of which is unknown, may have summed it up the best for me: “In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of the things not meant for you.”

Today, I’d like to ask you: Did you tell the most important person in your life that you love him or her today? If not, what held you back? Do you love that person unconditionally? Does that person love you unconditionally? I hope you make a decision today and every day to only accept unconditional love—you do deserve it.

Much love and blessings, my friends. XO Shari

  2. Beautiful words and so true. I finally have experienced unconditional love. It took me a while to find it. I believe I needed to experience what it is not to realize when I found the real thing. I am so grateful for my life now.
